Vocabulary Words

These are words used on the blog that you may not know. All the words on this list can be found on the blog in bold and blue, (this list will grow as time goes on):
  1. Carcinogens - n. A substance capable of causing cancer in living tissue.
  2. Toxicants - n. A toxic substance introduced into the environment.
  3. Compound - n. A thing that is composed of two or more separate elements.
  4. Corrosive - n. The disintegration of an engineered material into its constituent atoms due to chemical.
  5. Neurotoxic - adj. Poisonous to nerves or nerve cells.
  6. Cholinesterase - n. An enzyme, esp. acetylcholinesterase, that hydrolyzes esters of choline.
  7. Insoluble - adj. (of a substance) Incapable of being dissolved: "insoluble fibers".
  8. Neurotoxin - n. A poison that acts on the nervous system.reactions with its surroundings.
  9. Epidemiological - n. A branch of medical science that deals with the incidence, distribution, and control of disease in a population.
  10. Diagnosed - v. To identify the nature of (an illness or other problem) by examination of the symptoms.
  11. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma - n. (NHL's) A diverse group of blood cancers that include any kind of lymphoma except Hodgkin's lymphomas.
  12. Airborne - adj. Transported by air.
  13. Ambient - adj. Of or relating to the immediate surroundings of something: "ambient temperature".
